Eaton’s Industrial Sector Electronics Center of Excellence (CoE) Division is currently seeking a Senior Product Engineer to be part of our Galesburg MI team.
 
The primary function of this role is to be responsible for the development and application of electronic system components to commercial vehicle and automotive powertrain control products.

Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates the application of basic Engineering tools/principles and evidence of creative thinking (examples: schematics; basic design; test methods; electronics measurement)
  • Demonstrates application of basic project management tools/principles (examples: action items; project plan; team meetings; project tracking; basic risk identification)
  • Serves individually and within a team to develop and select concepts for realization of electronic designs in new product development
  • Evaluates present and new technology sensors, actuators and other electronic products
  • Integrates electronic components into powertrain electrical subsystems in collaboration with the product systems engineers
  • Develops detailed engineering materials including block diagrams, schematics, component drawings, specifications, manuals and other customer documentation, development and test procedures, and Engineering Change Notices
  • Furnishes requirements analysis, hardware functional and performance specifications, design analysis, supplier management, product integration, testing, and validation of components used embedded real-time control systems.
  • Serves on a team to determine root cause of component failures using team oriented problem solving methods
  • Implements reliability analysis and risk management of electrical subsystem components using tools such as Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Failure Reporting & Corrective Action Systems
  • Coordinates with suppliers, internal laboratories and test track facilities to ensure the successful completion of product development and validation testing
  • Serves on a team to identify process improvements, product cost reductions, and reliability improvements
  • Operates as a team member in technical project planning and management from concept phase through production release

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or physics from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum of 2 year experience in industrial products, transmissions or heavy vehicle/automotive product development OR 4 years of experience in a relating field (i.e. electrical products, controls, software, etc.).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
 
  • Master of Science in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, or computer science engineering)
  • 2 year experience in transmission automation and systems integration
  • Electrical / Mechanical (Mechatronic) principles and applications
  • Actuation technologies including motors, solenoids, valves, pistons
  • Electrical wiring interconnect systems (wire harnesses, connectors)
