Eaton’s Lighting Division is currently seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to be part of our Atlanta GA team.
Position overview:
Eaton's Lighting Division has an opening for a Lead Power Electronics Engineer in Midtown Atlanta, GA to design analog circuits and wireless modules for lighting control products. Development focuses primarily on analog control circuits, power supplies, filtering, control circuits and also includes participation in all aspects of activities related to RF Engineering from specification, design, fabrication, acquisition, integration and deployment.

Essential Functions:
  • In this role you will be working in a dynamic and fast paced team environment, using your knowledge of switching power converters, power electronics and RF system design to deliver new products. 
  • You will be involved in the complete development cycle seeing your design evolve from a technical specification into a finished product.   
  • Detailed technical collaboration with the full cross functional development team will require strong and ongoing communication.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications (Not required to be qualified for the job)
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineer from an accredited institution
  • Hands on experience debugging switching power converters and electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, network and spectrum analyzers.
  • Knowledge of  PCB layout considerations for RF designs
  • Worked with wireless communication (RF) protocols (e.g., Zigbee,  Z-Wave, Bluetooth,  WiFi,  GSM/GPRS, CDMA, GPS)
  • OrCAD Designer or Allegro are preferred
  • Experience with thermal and reliability consideration for embedded hardware design
  • Experience with both microprocessor and analog based control systems
  • Experience in digital circuit design
  • Experience with revision control systems, preferably SVN
Position Criteria
  • Design power electronic circuits that enable the launch of new products using  switching mode power converters, magnetic designs, triac/FET/IGBT control circuits, resonant systems, feedback control systems, RFI/EMI filter techniques  and thermal analysis.  These designs must address challenging performance objectives while meeting the size, thermal, regulatory, manufacturability, reliability, and cost objectives
  • Actively coordinate the electrical design with the embedded and system design throughout the product development cycle. 
  • Validate the design through design reviews, product testing and detailed analysis
