Job Description

Eaton’s Aerospace Fuel Motion Control division is seeking a Chief Engineer-Aerospace Hydraulic Valve and Actuation to join our team. The position will be based at our Los Angeles, CA facility.
 
The Chief Engineer is responsible for being the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets. The Chief engineer will serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME); plays key role in developing and supporting product line strategy, direction, priorities and guides the team to drive business results / improvements in division/region.  Provides technical solutions based on existing and personally developed technology. Promotes innovation and identifies new technologies to be used in parts and services. Possesses a broad strategic vision of the Aerospace FMC Hydraulic division’s future products and services and provides consultation in the chosen area of expertise.  Involved in a wide variety and large number of projects, conduct feasibility studies ensuring that goals are met and are within budget. Manages external supplier relationships and  effectively work with all business functions to identify issues, create & drive solutions to completion.

  • You will manage complex projects/programs involving multiple components for completeness, compatibility, and compliance.  Has sphere of influence at the division level.  Identifies opportunities / connections within the company and technical associations that enhances business performance.
  • You will generate technical solutions and has accountability for the integrity of design solutions on multiple programs including program technical and design reviews with key signatory approval.
  • You will drive best practice methodologies for hydraulic , mechanical, and electromechanical engineering across aerospace with proven methods & tools and serves as the “surrogate customer” for quality acceptance of all products & technical deliverables by personally getting involved, designing, teaching coaching & mentoring.
  • You will drive complete design of components or systems to meet customer requirements of performance & cost.
  • You will serve as key technical guide to the Integrated Program Development Team, and to customers on large and complex programs.
  • You will be the key interface to relevant professional organizations and standards bodies. Proactively represent and promote Eaton Aerospace by taking a role in external forums.
  • You will review and judges the suitability of requirements management plan and systems engineering plan on the program for technical and non-technical requirements.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years combined experience in the aerospace industry or with new product development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with hydraulic or mechanical products.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 10 years of experience within the aerospace industry with new product development and sustaining support – specific to hydraulic and electrical actuation systems.
  • Key role in aerospace related professional organization.
  • DFSS Black belt.
Position Success Criteria
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Strong analytical skills covering multiple areas of engineering (mechanical design, test, project management, structural analysis, fluid analysis, electrical design).
  • Strong communication and collaboration with engineers, engineering, suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to influence the organization without direct reporting relationship.
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities and nurse them through the Ideation Process.
