Job Description

This role is accountable for the continued supply of purchases for the best value delivered to support manufacturing objectives and is directly responsible for the purchase of materials.

This includes supporting production with necessary direct materials for all factory areas to ensure economical plant operations and to maintain the lowest inventory levels without effecting production. In addition, this position is also accountable for direct material projects to improve factory operating performance and to achieve optimum levels of efficiency, cost, quality and timeliness.  This role is also responsible for improving SAP Functionality including implementation of Request for Quote (RFQ) process.


  • Establish relationships with suppliers to ensure continued supply and best value delivered.
  • Monitor supplier performance and communicate results to Suppliers.
  • Develop improvement programs with the Manager to strengthen the sources of supply.
  • Participate in the supplier certification process.
  • Evaluate new suppliers based on established criteria.  Recommend acquisition candidates to ensure supply and improve competitive position.
  • Analyze and solve problems relative to inventory control to insure efficient operations.
  • Initiate surveys and collect data concerning inventory activities.
  • Investigate causes of delays or inefficiencies in processes and take corrective action.
  • Recommend areas for cost improvement and implement.
  • Develop supplier base to achieve the goals of improved customer service, reduced quality defects, reduced inventory and increased productivity.
  • Work with Logistics to ensure transportation costs are minimized.




  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution
  • Three years of experience in manufacturing operations
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographic area or reasonable commuting distance will be considered for this position


  • The incumbent must possess effective communication skills
  • The incumbent must be cognizant and follow safety and environmental procedures when I interacting with suppliers
  • Detail-oriented
  • High level of integrity
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities against multiple deadlines
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint as well as SAP
  • Able to work well with people across multiple functions
  • Ability to communicate/present to senior level managers


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, business, accounting or engineering from an accredited educational institution preferred
  • Five years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in purchasing/materials or related function.
  • Structured negotiation experience including contract negotiation
  • SAP proficiency – RFQ and Quantity Contracts
