Job Description

Eaton’s Vehicle division is seeking a Senior Electro-Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our team. The position will be based at our Galesburg, MI, Marshall, MI, or Southfield, MI facility.
 
The Senior Electro-Mechanical Systems Engineer is responsible for driving new product safety and reliability for Eaton’s Industrial Sector.

  • You will perform system safety testing for vehicle systems.
  • You will perform systems hazards testing and identify system safety requirements in order to meet an overall system safety initiatives.
  • You will define system reliability requirements based on voice of the customer, and allocate requirements to subsystems / components.
  • You will plan and execute a system reliability demonstration plan.
  • You will construct a system reliability model based on component reliability testing.
  • You will support a comprehensive risk management process– including boundary diagram, P-Diagram, and DFMEA.
  • You will define a Design Validation Plan (DVP) to validate design robustness and reliability requirements.
  • You will guide problem solving activities to contain and correct issues with a multi-disciplined team, including reviewing and guiding supplier problem solving efforts.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Engineer.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of Galesburg, MI, Marshall, MI, or Southfield, MI will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • ISO-26262 Vehicle Embedded Systems Safety Certification.
  • Vehicle systems engineering experience.
  • RedX or Six Sigma problem solving experience.
  • Data testing (i.e. SQL, FAMOS, R-Code, or Minitab) experience.
  • Design for Six Sigma certification.
Position Success Criteria:
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Strong communication skills, able to speak, read and write in English.
  • Demonstrated technical skill in electrical systems, controls, sensors, and/or electric motor technology.
