Vice President, Retail Sales

The Vice President, Retail Sales in Lighting is responsible for establishing the sales targets and strategies to meet the lighting division’s objectives in the retail channel. This professional will foster positive and productive cross-functional relationships within the company and strong customer relationships externally to drive execution.
•Develops annual retail sales and profitability plans, establishes teams objectives in support of the overall lighting division strategy.
•Manages multiple channel and customer selling strategies
•Continuously builds organizational capabilities of the sales and category management teams to improve productivity and execution of business objectives.
•Assist in the development of new product roadmaps (MGPP), pricing and marketing strategies – Identify gaps is the current product offerings, and lead the product team to identify and implement innovative and differentiated solutions for the retail channel.
•Leverage the category management team to identify market trends and growth opportunities to drive customer behavior, improve sales and profitability.
•Heavy cross-functional engagement driving execution of the retail strategy and needs.
•Must build and maintain trusting relationships up, down and across both internal and external organizations. Identify and align strategy to achieve key customer goals and metrics.
•Support the development of the retail ecommerce and digital strategy.
•Proactive preparation, strategic development and cross-functional participation of key customer line reviews.
•Maintain a constant pulse on external intelligence and competitive activity, such as: market share, promotions, product benchmarking, new product introductions, pricing, etc.
•Update and communicate sales forecast monthly
•Develop and maintain a constant pipeline of short and long-term growth opportunities including: promotions, competitive conversions, new product introductions, etc.…
•A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
•Must be willing to travel. The position requires frequent travel; approximately 40% is outside the local area.
•Minimum of 10 years of retail sales and industry experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Home Center Channel.
•MBA/Advanced Degree from an accredited institution
•Proven retail sales/marketing business leader with a minimum of 5 years of executive experience in the home improvement industry
•3 years of lighting experience.
•3 years of ecommerce experience.
•3year category management experience; comfortable with interpreting data to identify trends, opportunities and risk.
•Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.
•Ability to develop, maintain and leverage trusting relationships (up and down organizations) both internally and externally.
•Demonstrate advanced strategic agility, business acumen and excellent negotiation skills.
•Proven ability to lead multiple projects efficiently and with a high degree of independence and high attention to detail.
•Persistent, consistently delivers and drives on-time execution on commitments. Ability to set and meet stretch targets.
•Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and lead cross-functional teams to accomplish challenging goals and objectives.
•Hands-on leadership style. Must be willing and capable leading line review strategies, presentation development and in-person customer presentations.
•Makes timely decisions when a number of alternatives are available.
