Eaton’s Hydraulic Power Motion Control division is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team. The position will be based at our Eden Prairie, MN facility.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for developing advanced mechatronic solutions for customer applications and key internal platforms with advanced hydraulic components and controls.  You will model, implement, evaluate, validate, and troubleshoot solutions in both the digital domain and physical demonstrators to ensure technical success.  Development of production quality controls, fault handling, and documentation to ensure customer wants and needs are met during the commercialization process is needed. This position will require significant cooperation with internal Eaton customers and Eaton personnel in the global regions.

  • You will gather, internalize, translate, and document customer input and requirements for projects and technologies.
  • You will develop hydraulic and control architectures and embedded code for advanced systems that meet or exceed customer expectations relative to the level of maturity of the system.
  • You will organize and complete projects using project management methodologies.
  • You will guide subsystem or vehicle testing and integration activities for baseline testing and solution integration and commissioning.
  • You will solve issues that may arise during development with thorough and creative solutions.
  • You will produce intellectual property that is unique and innovative to the industry.
  • You will take initiative to introduce new methods to improve current processes/procedures and the development of internal reference materials.
  • You will perform effective risk analysis and implements actions into product and projects
  • You will create effective presentations (such as white papers, webinars, and publications) to communicate complex technical proposals and ideas.
  • You will participate in model development of dynamic platform simulations to predict performance, select component sizes, and serve as a controls verification/development tool.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechatronic and/or controls systems experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 2 years of experience with embedded controls development on mechatronic systems.
  • 1 years of dynamic modeling experience (prefer Simulink or AMESim).
  • 1 years of hands-on experience with platform machine architecture design and implementation.
  • 1 years of project management experience across a global organization.
  • DFSS Green belt certification.
Position Success Criteria:
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Experience working with a global team.
  • Experience with functional safety requirements and systems.
