Job Description

Eaton Hydraulics has an opening for the Plant Manager role in the Shawnee, OK facility. This role will manage plant operations, in conjunction with other divisional functions, to achieve customer satisfaction and business objectives.  The Plant Manager must effectively organize, lead and manage all functional elements for the plant. He or she sets overall policies and procedures to ensure effective manufacturing/trading operations consistent with Eaton Business System (EBS), values and philosophy. He or she leads the plant leadership team to develop plant strategy and tactics to achieve annual profit plan and long-term strategic plan. The Plant Manager is also responsible for leading and implementing EBS, especially in applying the tools and processes to deliver exceptional business results.
 
Essential functions include:
 
  • Sets overall plant policies and procedures to ensure effective operations consistent with the Eaton Business System, Values and Philosophy
  • Fosters an environment which promotes Eaton’s goals, encourages continuous improvement, and builds customer relationships 
  • Accountable for the day-to-day decisions that directly impact the quality, efficiency, and profitability of the Shawnee Plant
  • Assesses performance indicators, and takes appropriate actions, to ensure schedule, cost, and quality goals are met
  • Provides leadership and commitment in support of continuing improvements in quality, productivity and delivery performance
  • Supports product design organization through new product introduction phase to ensure customer product development and manufacturing delivery times are met
  • Assures that Environmental, Health, and Safety issues are addressed considering local regulations, Eaton policy, and good corporate citizenship
  • Evaluates operational performance of the group in order to facilitate performance management, merit promotions, job transfers, dismissals, commendations, etc.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement approved capital programs to support the profit and strategic plans with a minimum of capital
  • Maintain direct communication style based on the plant with all employees with the overall objective of maintaining good employee relations
 
THE PERSON
 
The successful candidate will have a strong operational base, ideally with current or prior P&L experience within a highly complex manufacturing company. This leader will have deep expertise in developing and implementing robust continuous improvement programs within a manufacturing environment. He/she will bring exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to drive multi-functional change initiatives and will have a track record of driving for and achieving results, as well as building overall organizational capability. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with the ability to deploy site level operations strategies and initiatives to increase productivity and drive cost out. He/she will also have exceptional business and financial acumen, having experience evaluating site performance, financial reports, participating in operating reviews, and being able to quickly discern the issues that are critical and vital for the site. He/she will also have significant quality and environmental, health and safety expertise within a dynamic, fast-paced organizational culture. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be one that holds himself/herself accountable for delivering results on a consistent basis. 
 
Essential requirements include:
 
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive manufacturing experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (Six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to materials management.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and techniques utilized to establish value propositions of  operational changes
  • Ability to direct and lead cross-functional process improvement teams
  • Must possess good communication skills (verbal, written) to be able to represent Eaton
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to lead high performance teams 
  • Management and leadership skills and social understanding
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Qualifications

EDUCATION
 
An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required.  An MBA or advanced degree in a related field is highly desired.
