Job Description

Eaton’s Electrical Division has an opening for a CNC Machinist to work 1st Shift. This position will be located in La Grange, NC
 
Sets up and operates conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts, and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques

  • You will study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • You will measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • You will select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • You will calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • You will start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • You will verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • You will set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • You will fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools.
  • You will verify dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
  • You will sometimes install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • You may operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  • You may develop specifications from general description and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • You may confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • No relocation provided. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of LaGrange, NC to be considered.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee
 
Position Criteria:
  • Must be able to learn machining and tool making operations
  • Must be able to perform basic math functions
  • Must be able to perform operations that may require heavy lifting
  • Must be Safety, Quality conscious and dependable
  • Ability to perform operations that may require heavy lifting
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Basic understanding of CNC control functions
  • Technical certificate or degree in Machining from an accredited institution
