Senior Planner


Primary Function


The Senior Planner will be responsible for creating and maintaining production orders to support the requirements of the business.


The Senior Planner will also support the Supply Chain Manager in the identification and implementation of initiatives which will be primarily focused on achieving Build to Schedule, On Time Delivery and Inventory targets whilst driving overall improvements in efficiency


Essential Function

Establish and maintain effective relationships with the company’s internal customers in accordance with the ethical code and standards of conduct maintaining the highest level of professionalism at all times

Arrange the creation and maintenance of production orders in line with demand, material availability and production constraints. Ensuring materials are cost rolled before order creation.

Create reports detailing manufacturing and capacity requirements for the plant to meet the demands of the business.

Maintain and monitor minimum manufactured material stock levels to meet the requirements of the business.

Review customer amendment requests (including changes to delivery dates and order content) and co-ordinate with customer service and production to implement and communicate changes.

Review engineering changes and take the necessary actions to communicate changes to production.

Review material supply issues impacting the production plan. Communicate to Customer Service any impacts on customer requirements.

Review significant sales quotations as required to assess and report capacity and material demands on the business.

Seek and identify areas for improvement, in line with the strategic direction of the organization with a view to improving service levels to customers.

Provide information and statistics with regard to planning activities as required to support business needs.

Support the new product introduction process by coordinating changes with engineering/R&D

Ensure proper and professional commercial engagement at all times.

Perform other specific and general duties as required and agreed.

Establish close collaboration with the purchasing team to identify material supply constraints and work on resolutions


Specialist Knowledge Required:


  • SAP experience in a planning/purchasing environment is essential
  • Excellent organizational and administration skills are essential
  • Competent with Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • GCSE grade C or above in 5 subjects or equivalent qualifications required
  • Technical understanding or background would be an advantage (Mechanical/Electrical)
  • Drive and ambition to develop and progress within a Procurement environment
  • The ability to communicate at all levels internally and externally
  • The willingness to challenge the status quo and deal with ambiguity
  • The ability to generate improvement ideas and successfully implement them
  • The ability to develop and present business cases across a variety of topics
  • A solid level of competence regarding analytical tasks and interpretation 
  • The ability to work on own initiative and be able to work as part of team
