Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
1.
State the primary function or overall purpose of your position.
 
 
The incumbent will primarily be responsible for managing end to end Quality Assurance (QA) activities for the ADMCOE addressing QA needs across all corporate functions such as HR, Finance, EBE etc. and for Corporate IT applications that fall under the ADMCOE purview.
 
This is a global role and requires managing the QA deliveries for enterprise-wide key and strategic projects/programs, large implementations ; enhancement and upgrade projects.
 
This individual will have the knowledge and / or expertise in multiple areas of QA such as various testing tools, different types of testing such as automation and performance testing, different development methodologies such as Waterfall, agile, DevOps etc. and use these effectively to deliver QA activities for projects, releases, changes etc.
 
Additionally, this person will be responsible for managing the QA team consisting of employees and vendor resources to the tune of 6-9 people. This number could also go up based on the variable demand from the projects.
 
The role will also be responsible to:
  • Ensure project and testing governance related activities are performed including review of requirements, test artifacts, creation and distribution of test reports, metrics dashboard for assigned areas
  • Provide leadership and management capabilities for functional, technical or process related IT QA initiatives and responsible for overall organization building
  • Manage and interact with the global, regional teams and stakeholders through weekly meetings and/or regular progress reviews
  • Define and drive continuous improvement by leveraging industry standard best practices, processes, tools, program/portfolio management methodologies

List the essential functions (i.e. key responsibilities with expected end results), which must be accomplished in order to fulfill the purpose of your position as described above.
  • Consult with the Business, IT Leadership, BRMs to develop, define, and implement QA Strategy for ADM COE
  • Align operational processes with IT Strategic plans and deliver projects and support with the consistent approach of building organizational capability driving to common/standard platforms for areas of responsibility
  • Define and execute test strategies, plans, estimations for large and complex projects
  • Hold and/or facilitate review of test strategy / case with cross-functional teams
  • Review/Approve traceability matrix, manual and/or automated test cases/scripts, acceptance criteria, test logs, defects  to ensure the deliverables are of a high standard
  • Contribute in defining QA processes associated with manual, automation, performance testing
  • Responsible for Defect management
  • Allocate tasks  to team, track and  monitor as per plan to deliver projects on-time and within budget
  • Responsible for capacity planning and effective utilization of the team
  • Manage risks, issues and escalations
  • Ensure compliance to Eaton standard processes (PROLaunch, ITSM, QA) and tools to bring uniformity  and bring changes to promote excellence in QA
  • Leverage standard IT work processes and program/portfolio methodologies to manage and measure work driving continuous improvement
  • Responsible for talent management of the team including talent acquisitions, talent development, retention, performance management
  • Responsible for achieving organizational IT BSC metrics, QA specific KRAs, conducting RCA and implementing lessons learned
  • Effectively manage vendor relationship and resources
  • Contribute in defining profit plan and achieve profit plan goals
  • Continuously enhance maturity of the IT QA function by Building Organizational Capability w.r.t people, processes and tools for efficient execution of all test activities
  • Accountable for talent management of the team including talent acquisitions, talent development, retention, performance management for areas of responsibility
  • Support organizational change management related to QA processes, tools and metrics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /  Masters in Computer applications with 7-10 years of QA experience   
  • Proven experience in test management for medium and large programs/projects, portfolios with multiple cross-functional teams especially in the areas of Oracle HRMS and Finance
  • Excellent understanding and hand on exposure to  automation and performance testing concepts
  • Knowledge and experience in automated testing and performance testing and strong experience in using HP Testing tools such as Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
  • Strong project/program management skills
  • Strong experience in effectively managing diverse teams of at least 5+ in size
  • Excellent communication and interfacing skills with proven record of business facing capabilities
  • Strong hands-on experience in STLC activities starting from requirement understanding till closure
  • Relevant experience in defining and implementing QA processes and tools is highly preferred
  • Experience in managing multiple simultaneous projects of varied sizes. Should have ability to manage stakeholders in different regions.
  • Experience in building team, coaching, driving change, influencing and managing conflicts
  • Must have successfully led major enterprise projects/programs on a global scale (preferably in large, multi-national organizations).
  • Must have experience working on projects on an International level.

Testing and management related advanced certification is a plus
