The Senior Buyer will be responsible for enabling the purchasing function to deliver against business objectives of highest quality, shortest possible lead times, lowest possible inventory levels and lowest purchased price. Based in Sutton in Ashfield, this role will provide expertise in execution and support of purchasing activities within this plant.
They will require proven functional expertise and people management skills and be expected to support the progress of the team and develop the supply chain internally and externally, to improve its overall flexibility and ability to support the fluctuating business requirements.
This role will also manage the tactical purchasing decisions of their own select range of strategic suppliers and the more tactical supplier within the purchasing team. They will be assigned responsibility for purchasing finished components and raw materials for manufacture from our highest profile . These include, but are not limited to the following: Far East Suppliers and Eastern European Suppliers
Provide functional expertise to the purchasing department and drive improvements on the key metrics for service, past dues and inventory, reviewing root cause analysis and recovery plans
Focus on the strategic vendors of highest spend and highest risk to the business
Implement standardized tools, processes and indicators in alignment with Eaton metrics
Establish and maintain effective relationships with the company’s suppliers and internal customers to ensure consistent delivery of materials which meet quality requirements
Manage escalation of supply issues for a timely resolution
Optimise inventory levels to support service level and days on hand reduction
Review invoices in query and address as appropriate in a timely manner taking necessary action and seeking the required approval to resolve and avoid reoccurrence
Experience in achieving results through self and others
Proven successful track record in supply chain in a manufacturing environment
Excellent analytical skills
Team player and an able and competent decision maker
Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate resources effectively
Extensive experience of MRP system (SAP preferred)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- The candidate will require a background in engineering procurement, (mechanical, electronic or electrical), as well as excellent ERP skills (SAP preferred), and analysis skills. This role will attract a good team player and motivator, who is keen to perfect the purchasing activities of both themselves and of the wider team. A clear understanding of the overall supply chain and the impact/interdependencies are required.
