Eaton in Beltsville, MD has an opening for a 2nd Shift CNC Operator  Candidate must be capable of set-up and operation of two CNC mills.  Produce and check quality of finished parts. Fully understands technical drawings, revisions and note codes, uses QC info. Operate machines, and any other calibration equipment such as calipers, Allen wrench, and air gun or any other equipment necessary to perform job functions.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: .
  • Transfer programs from machine to machine
  • Read all inspection reports
  • Adjust programs feed and speed to increase efficiency
  • Perform basic lines modifications in programs
  • Upload programs to DNC
  • Capable of operating all machines with different controls in two or more cells
  • Can identify and use tooling associated with specific machines.
  • Capable of doing set-ups and program edits.
  • Understands G-S-M-I and K codes
  • Set-gauges and perform 1st piece in-process inspection prior to CMM inspection.
  • Shares knowledge and assists lower level operators.
  • Takes a pro-active role in preventative maintenance of the machines in your cell.
  • Utilizes skills and techniques to minimize scrap
  • Work in accordance with general safety rules and practices.
  • Will train new and temporary employees on processes
  • Participate in continuous improvement of processes 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment OR completion of a machinist/CNC degree/certification
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) of the Beltsville facility will be considered
  • All positions require use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in arms regulations. All applicants must be U.S. Persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S.Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years manufacturing / operations experience
  • Two years of CNC experience
Position Criteria:
  • Must be able to use the computer
  • Read and comprehend specifications, engineering drawings and manufacturing routings
  • Position requires exposure to oil, dirt, and heat
  • Must wear safety glasses, ear plugs and steel toed shoes for entire shift
  • Ability to stand, sit, move 8-12 hours a day
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs on a regular basis
