State the primary function or overall purpose of your position.
Eaton Corporation has an opening for a Financial Analyst based in Wadeville, Johannesburg.
The Financial Analyst works collaboratively with finance, accounting and business operations throughout South Africa.  This future leader will oversee and execute the processes necessary to plan, record, analyze and report on the financial conditions of the Eaton Electrical South Africa organization.
The ideal candidate is excellent at working with people, highly energetic, a critical thinker, skilled in driving process improvement and has a passion for driving to positive results in a complex environment.

Assistance in completing monthly closing and forecasting processes including coordination with sales controllers, variance analysis and commentary packages
Support in preparation of the annual profit plan & strategic plan
Coordinate, interpret and respond to adhoc financial requests within division
Analyze monthly reports for the South Africa organization
Train sales controllers about Eaton policies, financial systems and reports
Assistance in preparation of management presentations (Operations reviews, Profit plan etc.)
Assistance in ensuring adequate internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, SARS and audit requirements
Support and propose various initiatives to reduce complexity, standardize and improve efficiency of the financial processes
Additional ad-hoc analysis and project as necessary
Promote good financial stewardship by helping control costs, driving forecast accuracy, driving balance sheet integrity and ensuring proper controls are in place.


Position requires:
  • Recognized Accounting/Finance Degree/Internal Audit or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 3 to 4 years accounting experience in business (may include articles), functional controlling or analysis – an international, diversified industrial company and knowledge of US GAAP accounting preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret and relate financial data so that resulting comments describe the key risks and drivers
  • Eager and able to develop into future financial positions within the organization
  • Proficiency with MS-Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Good communication skills in English are required
  • Work well under pressure and be good at managing multiple tasks within demanding timelines
  • Eager to work in a dynamic and complex organization
  • High level of enthusiasm with a “can-do” attitude
  • Passion for business and ability to drive change
