Job Description

The Fuel & Motion Control Systems Division of Eaton’s Aerospace Group, has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer. This position is based in Jackson, MS. 
 
The Jackson facility has approximately 500 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for process planning and design, tool development and inspection sheet documentation for production processes.
  • Direct supervision of hourly employees when Team Leader is absent.
  • Ownership of area First Pass Yield (FPY) metrics.
  • Use Problem Solving tools (8D, 5 Why’s, DMAIC) to identity corrective and preventive actions.
  • Timely processing of customer returns (RMA’s) with detailed failure analysis.
  • Identify and execute cost out initiatives through productivity improvements.
  • Support new product launches into production.
  • Perform daily process checks to ensure compliance by technicians.
  • Work with sustaining engineering and quality groups to review performance trends and develop counter measures.
  • Support for process safety and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention initiatives.
  • Support role in training, counseling, and providing orientation to personnel to resolve work problems and to assure shift efficiency and effectiveness.
  • When called upon, administer personnel policies for the shift. Recommend changes in employee status such as reclassifications and promotion.
  • Adhere to the labor agreement and participate in the grievance procedure.
  • Participation in problem solving teams to resolve production and design problems with products.
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate detailed phases of project assignments involving the utilization of a team of people.
  • Assist in evaluation of production schedules and effective utilization of materials, manpower and equipment to meet production schedules; analysis of production delays, high cost operations, etc., and determination of appropriate remedial action.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum 3 months of engineering experience (including co-op/internship experience).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50 mile radius of the Jackson, MS facility to be considered.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience (including co-op/internship experience).
  • Prior Aerospace industry experience a plus.
  • Experience with Assembly and/or Test Operations.
  • Prior experience working in a Union Environment.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
