Eaton has an immediate opening for a Lead Engineer – Product Applications in Wilsonville, OR.
Execute engineering/technical, sales, and customer service functions in support of the established goals for the Portland Power Center operation. Provide applications engineering for product line support - this includes, but is not limited to: product development, engineering designs, providing direction to designers and collaboration with direct customers.
Essential Functions:
  • Interpret purchaser specifications while also assessing their existing power systems.
  • Provide quotations for customer jobs
  • Translate incoming order information into drawings and bills-of-material understandable by manufacturing and purchasing
  • Consult with customers as well as plant and field sales personnel in interpreting and defining new equipment applications; also consult with engineering technicians, manufacturing and purchasing, when required, in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser's requirements.
  • Must be able to develop product designs that may require the implementation of unique solutions
  • Analyze field problems that may require research into product and application history
  • Ensure compliance as well as maintain knowledge in all local and national electrical codes and standards
  • Provide guidance and work with manufacturing during development of new products and upgrade of existing products; provide direction to production employees on technical issues.
  • Review and maintain drawings and related information; work and communicate with other Eaton Electrical plants as well as outside suppliers to develop new features and design opportunities.
  • Maintain and encourage an air of teamwork among others
  • Assist the Power Center’s Operations Manager and/or Plant Manager in all day-to-day functions and activities of the plant. Assume leadership responsibilities in the Managers’ absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing and applying distribution and control equipment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Understanding of protective relay applications, PLC controls and NEC Code requirements
  • 7 years engineering and application experience including extensive customer interface
  • Knowledge of Eaton applications (Bidman and VISTA)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
