Job Description

Vehicle Group North America is looking for an Operations Director to support Commercial Vehicle Operations.
The Operations Director provides overall leadership for the VGNA Commercial Vehicle Operations by deploying VGNA‘s vision, strategy, and action plans to achieve long term growth and profitability; develops and strengthens the organization structure and management/leadership team; leads VGNA Commercial Vehicle operations cultural evolution toward continuous process improvement and total quality leadership; satisfies the needs of our customers.
Essential Functions:
  1. Lead the development of the strategic vision for VGNA Commercial Vehicle Operations, supported by plans and action programs that will lead to long-term growth and profitability.
  2. Provide leadership for all Operations sites in VGNA Commercial Vehicle.
  3. Clearly communicate VGNA’s vision, strategy and plans to our operation management, employees, customers and corporation.
  4. Implement a comprehensive communication plan across all sites, involving stakeholders and ensuring alignment with regional, divisional and functional groups.
  5. Prepare and present financial plans and objectives consistent with the strategic plan and corporate targets.
  6. Execute strategic and financial plans and review progress on a regular basis.  Implement alternate plans to achieve targets if required.
  7. Select, develop and evaluate performance of subordinate managers.
  8. Staff the operations with outstanding personnel in all disciplines, lead planning efforts for long-term succession planning and management development.
  9. Ensure that VGNA Commercial Vehicle operations have the systems, training and culture to rigorously apply the highest ethical standards to our business activities.
  10. Lead the VGNA Commercial Vehicle operations’ cultural evolution toward continuous process improvement, total quality leadership, employee involvement, six-sigma teamwork and total customer satisfaction.
  11. Monitor customer and internal program status to ensure performance against key program targets.
  12. Actively participate and contribute as a member of the VGNA Operations leadership team reporting to VGNA Vice President of Operations.
  13. Coordinate activities and strategies with other Eaton groups and divisions where synergy exists.
  14. Review, approve and present programs for capital investment and major expense commitment.
  15. Take a leadership role in civic, industry, professional and charitable organizations.
  16. Perform additional functions as required.
  17. Comply with requirements of the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a managerial or team leader role in a manufacturing environment, managing cross functionally.
  • Plant management experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Masters in Engineering highly preferred
  • Multi-site experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have broad knowledge of finance, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, materials management, quality systems, business development and business law.
