Eaton’s Vehicle division is seeking a Software and Controls Engineering Manager to join our team. The position will be based at our Galesburg, MI or Southfield, MI facility.
 
The Software and Controls Engineering Manager is responsible for guiding a team of engineers in the Software and Controls COE, to develop embedded software (SW), and control systems for Automotive programs and will direct, develop, and implement strategic and tactical plans for execution of controls and embedded SW development programs and R&D projects. The Manager for Software & Controls is responsible for driving common software & control strategies, processes, tools and technical expertise across the organization and leveraging engineering resources around the world. This position is also responsible for interfacing with group-level businesses and system engineering to complete product strategies and roadmaps. The SW&C Manager will guide and direct development of a global team of software and controls engineers directly and indirectly in the U.S., Europe and India.

  • You will guide, mentor and coach a global team of software and controls engineering professionals in core technology development.
  • You will drive common software and control development tools and processes.
  • You will interface with product teams, suppliers, customers and external consultants/contractors.
  • You will contribute to definition of global software and controls strategy and roadmap.
  • You will develop global core technical competencies in software and controls Engineering.
  • You will execute Product Improvement and Cost Reduction projects.
  • You will manage appropriate protection of creative property relating to software and controls technologies.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years combined experience with controls and software engineering.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in an Engineering field from an accredited institution.
  • 10 years of technical experience with controls and/or software engineering.
  • 5 years of technical experience in using Mathworks Simulink, MatLAB, and/or Stateflow tool set for embedded controls development.
  • 2 years of technical experience in developing diagnostics and degraded mode functionality.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial or automotive control system design and development
  • Experience in the design and development of new or improved products, problem solving, program management and customer interfaces.
  • Experience in creating physics based plant models.
  • Formal training in Functional Safety requirements (e.g. ISO26262 or IEC61508)
Position Success Criteria:
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
