Job Description

Eaton's Vehicle Group Headquarters has an opening for the Director of Program Management. This position can be located at any of the vehicle group HQ locations globally. Locations include Galesburg, MI, Southfield, MI, Marshall, MI, Tourino, IT, Valinhos BR, Shanghai, CN.
Lead the Vehicle Group’s Program Management Office (PMO) to drive customer satisfaction, continuous improvement and life of the program financial performance by managing customer programs, contracts, and business relationships. Leads multiple (over 150) high risk programs across multiple global sites and global customers.  Plays key role in the strategic and profit planning processes that establishes the Division’s roadmap for growth and drive VG program Execution performance to BIC best in class levels.
  • Manages the Portfolio of NPD projects (total NRE $100M-200M, total revenue $1B-$3B+). Responsibility, Authority and Accountability for every project scope delivery and successful execution within quality, technical, schedule, and cost commitments.
  • Champions multi-function Integrated Program Teams (IPTs) leadership across the Division.
  • Supervises the Divisions Project Management Office (PMO). This includes planning & scheduling, metrics & reporting, tools & process implementation, compliance, resource mgmt, project finance, and portfolio mgmt.
  • Establish annual Profit Plan objectives for all division programs.  Conduct regular reviews with senior management to report performance against objectives for the Division NPD portfolio. Establish process to continuously report performance against customer objectives through the organization and take action to quickly improve results when performance gaps are identified.
  • Develop the organization through recruitment of top talent, experience and PM and general management leadership skill development of existing organization. Champions Project Management competency assessment and development.
  • Manage effective customer communications as needed.  Improve organization responsiveness to customer requirements.  Communicate and manage customer expectations and contractual commitments internal to the business.
  • Participate in customer contracts, pricing, terms and conditions and contractual flow-down through the organization as needed. 
  • Work seamlessly with marketing and manufacturing to identify action plans to improve top and bottom line financial performance. Champion cross-functional teams within the organization to implement identified actions to achieve desired financial results.
  • Manage the product development process to assure that new systems and/or products meet customer needs and expectations and programs launch meeting forecasted margin levels.
  • Seek to improve the Project Management processes used in the across vehicle group and work closely with the Engineering and Operations functions to harmonize Project Management processes with these key functions.
  • Increase the division program management talent capability globally.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration from an accredited institution
  • 10 years’ experience in Program Management; or a combination of Program Management with some Engineering and/or Product Development Management

  • Legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship now or in the future

     

     

    Position Criteria

  • Proven Leadership skills - capability to lead change in an Integrated Team (IPT) environment across multiple sites and customers globally.
  • Very proficient in Portfolio, Program and Project Management methodologies, processes and tools

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written with ability to make necessary status reports and technical presentations to Eaton management and customer

  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen

  • Broad knowledge of the automotive and commercial vehicle industry

     

     

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in Automotive or Commercial Vehicle New Product Development (NPD) programs

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) accreditation (PMP or PgMP)

  • Experience in Risk Management
