Job Description

Eaton’s Hydraulics group has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer located in Eden Prairie, MN.
Establish and maintain methods of manufacturing for a sub group within a product line.  Advise and recommend machine tool selection, develop prototype and production tooling, develop Operation instructions and drawings, Control Plans and gaging methods.  Train manufacturing technicians, production personnel.  Direct and maintain departmental records.  Analyze data to identify adverse conditions and drive continuous improvement.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop manufacturing processes for New Product Development ensuring they meet Environmental, Safety, and health (MESH) requirements.
  • Prepare product routings and Control Plans.
  • Dictate discrepant material disposition and rework procedures.
  • Prepare cost estimates.
  • Authorize O.I. and E.C. changes.
  • Investigate and recommend machine tools.
  • Specify tooling and gaging.
  • Structure and maintain department forms, records and procedures.
  • Monitor and coordinate new product start up, vendors, etc.
  • Direct product routing maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance to shop personnel.
  • Model the Eaton ethical conduct policy, the Eaton Values and Philosophy, and comply with all other corporate, plant, and regulatory policies and regulations as applicable.
  • Drive continuous improvement and support Plant Goals:  Safety, Quality, Lean, OTD, and Financial expectations as a key member of VSM team.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering completed by May 2018 from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum of 6 months of work or internship experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience developing and installing new tooling and processes
  • Has developed cost estimates
  • Exposure to Six Sigma methods
  • Exposure to LEAN concepts/methodologies
  • Experience developing Control Plans and gaging processes
  • Experience with database management
  • Assembly and test process experience
