Job Description

Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Continuous Improvement (CI) Technician (1st Shift).

 
The LA facility has approximately 350 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
 
The CI Technician is responsible for the primary functions as described below with minimal supervision.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Conduct continuous improvement activities to eliminate waste through implementation of Eaton Lean and CIF tools.
  • Actively participate in High Performance Work Team efforts including 8D and A3 corrective action teams, VSM activities, PFMEA teams, PROLaunch activities, etc.
  • Assist in documenting manufacturing processes and modification of Standard work
  • Assist in the development of EHS processes and procedures
  • Conduct layered process audits
  • Work on projects as assigned
  • Conduct BOM/router audits
  • Assist in training employees to perform their job functions
  • Assist in the creation of sub-assembly prints/sketches and visual controls to aid the manufacturing processes
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Value Stream.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Kaizen Events
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • No relocation provided. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Los Angeles in order to be considered.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee
     

 

Position Criteria:

  • Basic knowledge of lean tools.
  • Ability and desire to learn and apply lean systems and tools.
  • Ability to read Engineering prints and interpret and carry out a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute percentages, area, circumference, and volume; draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Capability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists through communication and teamwork
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures and equipment, OSHA regulations, manufacturing methods, routings, and standards
  • Experience using MFG-PRO, Enovia and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with the following measuring tools and gages: micrometer, calipers, tapes and steel rules

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Leading Kaizen Events
  • Experience with time studies and standard documentation sheets
  • Value stream mapping experience
