Job Description

The Director of Operations leads the operations function for the Commercial Distribution Products Assemblies (CDPA) business, reporting directly to the Sr. VP/GM of CDPA.  The total division revenues are approximately $950M, with over 2,600 employees in the US and Mexico. 
The Director Operations position is responsible for the overall leadership of manufacturing and supply chain functions, with multi-site plant facilities geographically dispersed across the region.  This position will lead across functional areas (e.g. manufacturing, quality, operational excellence, supply chain, logistics, production, inventory and materials management, purchasing, EHS), working closely with other Electrical Systems and Services (ESSG) business and functional leaders to ensure standardization and establishment of performance metrics. This role is responsible for developing and implementing in partnership with the plant operations staff a strategy to support achievement of the organization’s financial metrics/goals as defined by the profit and strategic plans. 
  • Establish, develop and execute the appropriate manufacturing/operations strategic plan to support the organization’s business and financial goals.  Strategic focus on new product industrialization (make/buy, process choice, capacity considerations, infrastructure/footprint strategy).   Formulate and implement strategic changes in manufacturing and operations that guide the organization, maintaining and improving competitive position, profitability and conformance of products to established customer and company quality standards. 
  • Manage policy deployment in the areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, lead-time and cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, and plant performance measures.
  • Participate with other ESSG leadership team and staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve manufacturing/operational excellence and define related performance metrics/tools.  Establish and maintain key performance metrics, taking overall responsibility of manufacturing performance.  Together with plant operational leaders, oversee operational effectiveness for driving metrics: DSO, DOH, DPO, Lean, EHS and cost out. 
  • Together with each plant manager, provide leadership for plant based OPEX leaders and the organization through proactive and effective communications.
  • Drive a high performance workforce through effective talent management.  Attract, coach, mentor and develop strong leaders within the organization and share ownership with the plant managers in the development of future talent pipeline. 
  • Drive compliance to environmental, health and safety programs and ensure adherence to local regulations, Eaton policy and good corporate citizenship. Lead sustainability approach for CDPA, involving customers, Eaton staff and suppliers.
  • Working with the supply chain function: establish inventory plans by product family/site; proactively manage inventory to profit plan, driving improved and sustainable processes; execute the Supply Demand Planning (SIOP) process, driving ownership and collaboration across all stakeholder groups; generate forecasts that meet customer expectations and profit plan objectives.
  • Develop and educate employees and leadership on Eaton business tools into the organization including EBS, Six Sigma, Eaton Lean System, PROLaunch, SIOP, Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF), etc. 
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with key suppliers (internal and external) to ensure high quality relationships and products.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10 years manufacturing and/or technical experience and expertise.
  • Seven (7) years of leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing systems.
  • Proven track record of building organizational capability and talent .
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Plant manager experience in a large manufacturing facility is strongly preferred. 
  • MBA or advanced degree from an accredited university.
  • OpA Assessor Certification.
  • Organizational Change Management Certification.
