Job Description

  • Development and validation of embedded firmware for Switchgear & Regulator control units of Eaton’s Power Systems Division
  • Drive project execution through customer support, new feature additions and enhancement of existing features in the Control, involve in firmware development for new products as applicable
  • Provide technical solutions, follow defined processes and support in product development and technology innovations

·    Interact with global cross functional teams to perform design, testing, validation for Switchgear and regulator controls

  • Drive project execution through design, testing and implementation phase
  • Plan design release by coordinating with global stakeholders for all new firmware activities

  • Designs, develops and validates firmware for switchgear and regulator controls

  • Collaborates with global teams to capture requirements and work on support requests and/or new feature additions to the product

  • Provides support for design and validation of firmware for new product developments, as applicable

  • Establishes and/or maintains test lab for firmware verification and validation.

  • Participates in functional and code reviews with team members for modules/tasks and ensures requirements are met

  • Suggests and develops re-usable firmware components and looks for continuous improvement opportunities in Eaton’s switchgear and regulator controls.

  • Develops an understanding of both technology and product concepts and is able to articulate product and software design. Ensures quality and timely delivery adhering to the standard practices used in Agile/Kanban models.

  • Shares knowledge within the team and demonstrates flexibility working in parallel on multiple assignments/product categories

  • Monitors progress and achievements on projects. Provides timely status updates and reports to stakeholders

 

 

Qualifications

·         BE/BTech in Electronics/Electrical  Engineering or Computer Science. Master’s degree in controls/Firmware/ Electronics/Electrical/ Computer Science or related fields is a plus

·         3 – 5 years of relevant experience in Embedded Firmware Development

·         Good working knowledge of Embedded C

·         Experience working with GreenHills OS and development tools

·         Hands-on experience designing and validating firmware for 16/32-bit microcontrollers

·         Experience in designing and testing SCADA communication protocol stacks (RS232, Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet, IEC 60870-5-101, 104)

·         Experience in designing and testing microcontroller peripherals and drivers for SPI, I2C, UART etc.

·         Knowledge of version control and change management tools – SVN, JIRA, Crucible

·         Exposure to Agile or Kanban methodologies is desired

·         Knowledge of power systems, switchgear and regulator controls products/applications is an added advantage

·         Basic understanding of hardware systems and electronic components.

·         Experience working with lab equipment and tools like Multi-meters, Oscilloscopes and Power Supplies

·         Good verbal and written communication skills
