Eaton's Energy Storage Business has an opening for a: 

Safety/Reliability Engineer

Location: Le Lieu, Switzerland 

The Le Lieu site employs around 40 people. It is a high tech hub for Rail applications and Energy Storage.

We are developing new offers in the Storage business unit. As a Safety/Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible of the safety and compliance with highest standards of the storage industry. 

You will interact with the team in order to make sure that our design is safe and comply with industry standards. You will also find ways to optimize the design of our products, keeping in mind the regulatory aspects and reliability concerns. 

You will also conduct a reliability analysis of the whole Storage Systems and define the target to reach (ie SIL per IEC 61508). 

You carry out the project management of the reliability and safety analysis and facilitate the communication between the different parties (from engineering to production line).  

Essential Functions:

  • Power electronic and/or Electrical Engineering and/or control system design knowledge, compliance validation and assurance 
  • Deep knowledge of the IEC 61508 or equivalent standards 
  • Availability, Reliability and Maintainability of control and electrical systems 
  • Identification of hazards, requirements, standards and constraints (must lead FMEA) 
  • Good knowledge of the Low Voltage Directive and associated IEC standards 
  • Knowledge of the Grid code and standards 
  • Maintain and report applicable metrics for programs, e.g. quality, technical performance, and readiness levels.




  • Education: Engineer, M.S. or equivalent ( BAC +5) 
  • Working and aligning with multiple teams working on the same product 
  • Good experience with SIL and IEC 61508 
  • Good experience with Grid code and safety standards 
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering and HW power electronic boards appreciated 
  • Analytical skills for problem solving with focus on simple solutions 
  • Good written & oral communications skills 
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to communicate in English (French is a clear advantage) 
  • Willing to work in international environment.
