PRIMARY FUNCTION:
As an innovative and passionate leader, Eaton’s Workforce Planning Manager will lead the development, deployment and management of a company-wide workforce planning framework. Ultimately, this role will help drive Eaton’s aspirational goal to make work exciting, engaging and meaningful for our employees. This highly visible leadership role will help Eaton’s leaders make data-supported talent decisions related to planning for and optimizing the company’s workforce. The individual will help develop and manage a global approach to workforce planning that will efficiently and effectively structure processes, systems and data to inform business decisions and help resolve key talent-related business challenges. The individual will build capability across the HR function by teaching and preparing HR leaders to execute workforce planning within their customer organizations.  The result: the right talent in the right roles with the right training and development at the right time in order to support Eaton’s growth. This workforce planning leader will be responsible to develop the company’s workforce planning acumen and serve as a go-to resource for key stakeholders, including HR and business leaders.  He/she will be a key member of the Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness (TMOE) team, reporting directly to the Director, Talent Planning and Analytics.  In addition, the individual will work closely with key stakeholders in HR Analytics, Reporting and the IT function. 
 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:     
With the Director, Talent Planning & Analytics, establish a global Workforce Planning framework and maturity model, including:
  • Identify industry best practices and “define the possible” based on company requirements and aspirations in conjunction with current systems and data.
  • Define short and long term Workforce Planning scope, process, success measures and multi-year roadmap.
  • Lead global Request for Proposal (RFP) to research, develop and create data and technology requirements to support a successful Workforce Planning model – identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, ease of use and effectiveness through benchmarking and identification of leading practices.
  • Develop recommendation and establish approach for global skills management framework – including the definition and systematic assessment of competency and/or skills across Eaton.  Establish skills management taxonomy, governance, process and structure.
 
In support of Eaton’s aspirational goal to “make work exciting, engaging and meaningful for our employees,” ensure skills management approach supports improving internal talent identification, matching for key roles and development opportunities, and robust succession planning. 
  • Partner with the Early Talent center of excellence (COE) team to develop early talent forecasting based on analyzing available talent metrics/trends.  Build capability within Early Talent COE and business to determine optimum staffing levels for programs.
In conjunction with HR analytics and reporting, advise business HR on footprint decisions based on talent availability; provide data to business leaders to help inform decisions on where to place new Eaton locations/functions/shift work to/away from/facility, closures, based on talent available in that geographic locale now and in the future.
  • Build capability of business for informing local/division/group decisions by building out decision-making framework to be used in future location/staffing decisions.
  • As the subject matter expert and leader, teach and build capability across Eaton’s business HR teams to improve ability to identify and plan for the right talent to achieve future business strategy/goals

Qualifications

 
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, statistics, I/O psychology or related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 7 years work experience in workforce planning, forecasting or analytics
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and a problem-solving mindset
  • Demonstrated understanding of workforce analytics trends and techniques
  • Experience partnering with and/or consulting senior business leaders, forming relationships as a trusted advisor and delivers complex information simply and effectively
  • Able to deliver in ambiguous situations; can pivot effectively from setting strategic direction to execution, delivery.
  • Demonstrates passion for developing pragmatic solutions
  • Possesses outstanding collaboration skills with proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders across department and business lines to accomplish goals
  • Exceptional project management skills in order to transform innovative ideas into impactful reality
  • Strong technical understanding of HR management systems that span the employee lifecycle (e.g. talent acquisition, learning, performance management, etc.) – and other HR technology related to workforce planning
  • Prior experience and demonstrated ability in financial modeling and predictive modeling; a working knowledge of statistics
  • Expertise with Excel/Access, data-modeling, or statistical analysis; understanding of and ability to use R or Python, preferred
