Job Description

List the essential functions (i.e. key responsibilities with expected end results) which must be accomplished in order to fulfill the purpose of your position as described above.
  • Design and perform experiments to understand the process effect on part properties
  • Ability to perform metallurgical analysis of printed parts, read and understand reports
  • Ability to scientifically interpret measured data and validate or invalidate hypothesis
  • Ability of performing pre and post processing steps required for 3d printing for sample preparation.
  • Work in collaboration with tool room and metallurgical lab.
  • Capable of assisting with design changes and provide suggestions for better geometries, optimal part orientation and properties based on requests.
  • Coordinate testing and schedules with internal and external partners. Ability to track and maintain logs of activities
  • Participate in calibration activities for all the equipment’s. Perform Test equipment maintenance as needed
  • Maintain a safe working environment by providing adequate precautions to tests in process.

Demonstrate to the philosophy of 6S and DMAIC, conducts and participate in Kaizen events for set-up and lab facilities

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials Science or Manufacturing,
Preferred: Masters Degree in relevant field
 
QUALIFICATION:
 
Required:
 
  • 3+ years of experience in Metal joining/ welding industry. AM experience is an added plus
  • 3+ years of working experience in metallurgy / material analysis
  • Ability to perform process simulations in analysis software like Abaqus, ANSYS
  • Experience in handling SEM, optical microscopes, sample etching, etc
  • Strong understanding of welding / AM process parameters, and effect of variation within identified ranges
  • Ability to read and interpret time-Temp curves, microstructure and melt pool geometries
  • Ability to comprehend complex written instructions; Strong mechanical aptitude with Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Experienced in heat treatment process and effect on metallurgy
  • Past experience in problem solving & continuous improvement through LEAN, KAIZEN or DMAIC
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written) to communicate information effectively to all stakeholders

  • Working experience in metallurgy analysis / welding simulation and analysis
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and product engineering tools
  • Knowledge of welding processes, material deposition and joining techniques and surface finish techniques
