Eaton’s  Fuel  Motion Control Systems Division is seeking a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician will be based in Grand Rapids, MI.
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex test equipment and systems, develop and deploy improvements and upgrades to production equipment, and design and develop new equipment for use in production of electro-mechanical actuators.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs on production equipment.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical test equipment using prints, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Assist with the design and develop new test equipment for electro-mechanical actuators. 
  • Mentor and train technicians in processes and technical skills within test function.
  • Project Manage equipment repairs and upgrades which includes managing contractors.
  • Identify and implement improvements in production test equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain test equipment drawings, schematics, and software configuration.
  • Follow Eaton safety standards while servicing equipment.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution required.  
  • Minimum 2 years of experience maintaining, building, and repairing equipment.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within a 50 mile radius of the facility in Grand Rapids, MI will be considered.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology; or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing test equipment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing test equipment and build test equipment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience troubleshooting using schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in PLC programming or troubleshooting.
  • Experience in custom digital and analog circuit design is a plus.

Position Criteria:

  • Ability to use hand tools, and power tools, and electrical meters properly.
  • Basic understanding of measurement systems.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
