Job Description

Execute strategic marketing elements in accordance with the product line’s strategy and profit plan.  Help drive new product development and create / promote product line value propositions required to meet growth objectives.  Contribute to future product line direction through market research & analysis. Support and assist product line as needed in meeting its annual financial objectives.
Essential Functions:
  • Work closely with product line manager / product sales manager to achieve profit plan financials.
  • Plan for and attain orders entered (OE), sales billed (SB), and margin / cost objectives for new products developed in concert with NPD Engineering Manager.
  • For innovation / new product development, own, lead, and execute the VOC (voice of customer) process & collection into the product line and into PROlaunch. Transform inputs into new product development ideas and projects for input to the product roadmap.
  • Manage a sub-team of application/proposal engineers aligned to a market region or business segment to meet profit plan goals for quote rate and order entry as assigned.
  • Execute all product launches (hard and soft) for the product line, working closely with marketing communications, engineering, and product line teams.
  • Develop, update, and implement marketing plan. Create required product line sales tools, collateral, and communications. Lead product line’s participation in division wide marketing programs.
  • Work closely with the product line manager in strategic planning and the development of product line strategic plan.
  • Lead product line preparation for and participation in all sales meeting, and develop overall presentation / product line update.
  • Provide product training / develop training materials for customers, Eaton sales personnel and Eaton channel partners.
  • Perform competitive analysis and development product competitive comparisons as needed. Maintain a pulse on the competition (their product offering, footprint, and go-to-market strategy).
  • Provide market updates / analysis (with projections) and market intelligence to the product line manager. Support the product line manager with forecasting as required.
  • Create and update presentations and spreadsheets as needed (Ops reviews, profit plan, staff meetings, sales meetings, customer meetings, market share files, etc.). Support and back up product line manager in assigned meetings.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or sales/marketing from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years of experience in product marketing, applications, segment, or sales of a technical product.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Position Criteria:
  • Must be able to travel as necessary to effectively interface with customers and other required contacts, to perform essential functions above.
  • Must possess good business acumen, and the ability to develop and execute tactical and strategic plans to support the product line's goals.
  • Strong teamwork skills are necessary, with the ability to leverage resources effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently and innovatively to meet the overall goals of the product line.
  • Ability to generate high quality customer and technical presentations for technical products.
  • Ability to analyze product markets relative to competitor prices, market trends, and product features, and to formulate effective marketing strategies and plans accordingly.
  • Ability to effectively price products to attain desired company sales volume and market penetration in light of current market trends, product features, and existing competitive situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years leadership / management of people experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • MBA from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with power capacitor applications and capacitor switching devices.
  • Experience with electric utility and C&I customers, & channels.
