Job Description

Eaton’s manufacturing facility located in Arden, NC has an opening for an Operational Excellence Manager. 
 
The Operational Excellence Manager is responsible for improving organizational effectiveness through the coordination and deployment of the Eaton Business System to ensure the business meets growth, productivity, and quality objectives.  Specific responsibilities will be Quality Management System (ISO9001) deployment, Eaton Lean System deployment, 8D corrective action, Six Sigma program management, and to lead the plant’s effort to further mature in the Eaton Business Excellence criteria.
 
The essential functions are:
  • Drive continual improvement in the implementation of the Eaton Business System throughout the facility and plant organization.   Engage ALL Ashville associates in Continuous Improvement and OpA processes and practices.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement Framework across all areas of the plant including front end processes (engineering).  Create and execute CIF playbook to deploy the 8 building blocks and drive rapid improvement events across the site.
  • Drive Eaton Lean Six Sigma deployment through training, facilitation, and deployment resources.
  • Drive continual quality improvement through the Quality Management System, the Eaton Quality System, and a continuous improvement framework.  Influence and drive resources to resolve customer quality issues, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Identify and eliminate process variations resulting in external and internal failures through 8-D corrective action, Six Sigma, ELS, and other Quality Management System tools and processes.  Drive method sheet improvements utilizing the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Facilitate the implementation and reporting of Balanced Scorecard metrics; particularly for OpEx.  Report Balanced Scorecard results to the leadership team.
  • Manage the capital appropriation process to ensure return expectations are met.  Forecast capital expenditures for the current and future years.  Ensure capital is maximized for the benefit of the facilities’ capabilities.
  • Responsible for manufacturing engineering which provides maintenance of line support, future state value stream map and quality plan deployment.
  • Responsible for facility maintenance activities including the management of embedded suppliers ATS and B2 as well as special projects to ensure the facility physically operates successfully.
  • Set and lead the direction and implementation of the Innovation Team in support of manufacturing engineering improvements.
  • Lead the direction of design automation development resources including the linkage to the S&OP and other business process improvement tools.
  • Participate as trained in the Eaton Business Excellence certification process.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution required.
  • Five years’ experience in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Must be eligible to work in U.S. without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Certification as an EBE or Malcolm Baldridge examiner.
