Job Description

Eaton has an immediate opening for a New Product Development Engineer in Greenwood, SC.
 
This position serves as Project Leader for New Product Development, Research and Development, and Value Add / Value Engineered capacitor projects. The Senior Engineer will serve as Team Member on other projects led by Lead Engineers on the Project Team. The Senior Engineer will perform a Sustaining Engineering role for product and process manufacturing support.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Lead (or Participate with Project Team on) NPD projects.
    • Project execution utilizing Eaton PRO-Launch Process.
    • Project Planning (including Capital / Expense Spending plan and execution).
    • Phase Gate Execution.
    • DGC Presentations for Phase Gates.
    • New Product / Process design, testing, validation, and verification.
    • New Product Launch Process.
    • Coordination with all other departments on cross-functional teams (Quality, Sourcing, Marketing, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, etc.).
    • Assist with Patent development for Intellectual Property.
  • Lead (or Participate with Project Team on) VAVE Projects.
    • Project execution utilizing Eaton PRO-Launch Process.
    • Project Planning (including Capital / Expense Spending plan and execution).
    • Phase Gate Execution.
    • DGC Presentations for Phase Gates.
    • Design, testing, validation, and verification of engineered based product improvements.
    • Coordination with all other departments on cross-functional teams (Quality, Sourcing, Marketing, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, etc.).
  • Collaborates with R&D Group on Roadmap and R&D projects (PRE-Launch and PRO-Launch).
    • Develops understanding of new product design intent.
    • Coordinates materials analyses and evaluation.
    • Creates R&D sample evaluation plans.
    • Directs material qualification, analysis, and reporting.
    • Develops R&D Test Procedures.
  • Provides Process Engineering support (MOL) for shop processes required to manufacture product.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in an engineering position.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work experience in electrical distribution products or electrical power systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with research and development processes.
