The Senior Product Manager is a member of the Product Line Management team and leads execution of the strategic marketing plan for the Motor Protection line.  This includes executing a global product strategy and roadmap that supports the overall strategy of the product line, CPD, and Eaton.  This individual will drive the strategy and create value propositions via a thorough understanding of customer needs, market trends and competitive activities.  The Product Manager is also responsible for the pricing and marketing functions for their product(s).
 
The motor protection line is a strategic focus within the division with investment in new product development to drive growth in the advanced segment. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about solving customer problems and growing top line sales through successful launch and promotion of new, differentiated offerings serving the global market. The Product Manager role also offers candidates a unique opportunity to be exposed to all facets of Eaton’s business including Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
 
This role reports into Eaton’s Industrial Control Division headquarters located just outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The headquarters is a recently constructed, modern facility including both office space and state of the art laboratories. The building hosts marketing, engineering, testing, finance, sales and research—offering direct exposure and collaboration with all aspects of our business.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Drive the execution of the strategic plan for the product(s)
  • Plan a go-to-market strategy for products called out in strategic plan as growth platforms
  • Define product development roadmaps and product features
  • Engage with sales and customers to promote assigned products in the marketplace and stay on-top of customer needs and market trends
  • Provide product training to sales, including technical applications as well as commercial, “how-to-sell” strategies
  • Analyze key competitors to identify strengths, weakness and opportunities related to products, service level and strategies
  • Provide marketing/sales input for new product development, upgrades or launches
  • Develop specifications & business plans for new product development or brand-labeled product opportunities
  • Act as a leader in new product development programs by driving all marketing requirements for the phase-gate PROlaunch process and provide support and expertise for other critical tasks led by engineering, supply chain, finance and manufacturing.
  • Coordinate and develop support materials required to implement domestic and international product launches including catalogs, brochures, competitive comparisons, demos, videos promotions etc.
  • Develop a lifecycle planning process to effectively introduce, transition and retire products
  • Lead the development of marketing collateral working collaboratively with Global Marketing
  • Measure and report product forecast, activities and progress
  • Review sales and price performance by product
  • Approve pricing policies for all products, based on an understanding of Eaton’s value pricing methods
  • Review market share on a monthly basis and grow market share to meet profit plan expectations
  • Communicate and present results to Divisional Leadership

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Engineering or Business from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in management, strategic marketing, technical marketing, sales, engineering or operations.
  • 3+ years of experience in the motor control or industrial automation industry.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
 
Position Criteria:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of different organizational levels. 
  • Financial basics: NPV, IRR, YTP, Standard Margin, fixed and variable costs.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Must be experienced in facilitating customer meetings and delivering presentations 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Marketing.
  • Experience with developing product roadmaps, positioning strategy, price management, value proposition development and launching new products.
  • Experience working with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance and multiple sales channels.
  • Knowledge of international markets related to industrial OEMs, users and channels to market
  • Knowledge of motor control products including contactors, starters, overload relays, and motor control centers.
