Senior Manager, SAP Solution Design & Delivery
Location: Any EMEA location preferably: UK, DE, HU, PL, CZ
This position is Sr. Manager for all EMEA SAP solutions design and delivery services for all Eaton businesses and locations deploying SAP ERP & Cloud applications, related commercial, service, financial, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and Environment, Health & Safety integrations, and other SAP-related technologies. The team led and managed by the incumbent provides thorough leadership, program management, project prioritization, expectation setting with multiple business unit BRMs, project management oversight and execution, business analysis and model process (standard work) deployment for core SAP applications and the integrated applications. The team has expertise in order management, materials management, supply chain (SCM), financial integration, manufacturing execution and other key business processes and works directly with the sponsor locations to improve business performance.
The incumbent will lead a regional team of managers and functional analysts covering the various functional areas. In addition the team will provide consulting for advanced training, addressing problems and guiding the end users in the proper use of the business systems. This includes all aspects of planning, process design, process definition, measurement, reporting, budget, execution, and completion of major, strategic, and critical information technology-related projects across the company.
Business Development: Partners with Eaton IT and multiple operational business leaders (plant managers, vice presidents, directors, and mid-level managers) to identify opportunities for accomplishing the business cost goals and strategic objectives. Is able to develop detailed business case and ROI analysis with senior leaders. Understands process models and standard work deployment that should be adopted by Eaton’s business operations. Has detailed knowledge of multiple process areas and the linkages between them, and is likely a process expert in at least one area (finance, materials, SCM or customer service/shipping, etc.). Has influence and visibility across all Eaton businesses and gathers information outside of the organization (external viewpoints), which can be leveraged within Eaton. Has the unique ability to put him/her in the shoes of the operational leadership to solve complex business problems, and has built the appropriate relationships to proactively influence and effect changes across Eaton operations.
Project/Program Management: Manages large, complex projects/programs - often in parallel. The projects may be ambiguous and require a very structured approach with critical problem solving skills. Project budgets can exceed multiple millions of dollars. Projects are generally not located in the home area of the employee which requires significant travel. Consults with the business unit leadership teams and Eaton IT senior leadership teams to develop, define, and prioritize work structure breakdowns, manage roadblocks, and engage stakeholders. Individual works to proactively identify project roadblocks/issues and address with operational leadership.
Requirements Definition: Works closely with multiple business units, group business relationship managers, multiple functions or facilities to develop conceptual designs as well as create business and technical requirements that can be easily identified/traced. Clearly communicates project status and issues on a regular basis – addresses conflicting priorities of team members. Develops clear, concise, verifiable and traceable requirements and project definitions, including business case, ROI, and budget. Plans and leads requirements, design, and project reviews – often with up to 150 operational team members that may have conflicting objectives. Coordination of requirements gathering across multiple operations and plants across Eaton will be required.
Analysis, Design, and Construction: Analyzes and understands complex (and often ambiguous) operational requirements and administrative business practices. Designs solutions and standard work that satisfies the requirements of the Global Eaton business and IT Strategic architecture. Ensures executive operational acceptance of designed solutions, prior to undergoing development. Develops and acquires knowledge of best practices from industry leaders that can be leveraged across Eaton.
Testing & Implementation: Teams with IT leadership and business leaders to develop detailed “User Acceptance Test” plans based on defined requirements. Test plans may be very complex (multi-step) given the size of the projects. Assists business team in conducting UAT, and identifying key issues. Plans and manages the detailed implementation across Eaton, including performing detailed hands on implementation or conversion tasks where applicable or needed. Identifies and addresses key process, data, or architectural issues during testing. Develops solutions to critical problems to ensure a successful implementation of the project.
Production Support & Customer Service: Communicates frequently with Internal and external customers at a senior level (plant managers, directors, vice presidents, etc). Uses and oversees trend analysis and continuous improvement techniques to gauge project success and improve subsequent implementations. This individual and his/her team are expert at defining and developing operational standard work that can be leveraged in future implementations. Proactively identifies areas where improvements can be made to prevent production problems and ensure business continuity. Is considered an internal champion for standardization, utilization and deployment of ERP Health monitoring and improvement tools and dashboards.
Management & Leadership: Accepts and establishes a leadership role in user groups, representing Eaton at industry meetings and conferences. Cultivates senior level contacts with organizations outside of Eaton at which best practices can be evaluated. Maintains very senior level contacts within Eaton and is well respected by those peers. Is not afraid to demonstrate managerial courage in crises situations. Directs the activities of a large, virtual project team (150+ individuals) to ensure project milestones are met and project deliverables are obtained. Conducts performance evaluations for team members through the cycle. Provides proactive leadership and guidance for enterprise wide application of ERP technology. Expected to take a leadership and guidance role on non-project initiatives within or outside of Eaton IT.
Other: Establishes the necessary training and development to maintain a highly effective, competent staff. Counsel’s subordinates in career path development, process improvement, and skill development. Prepares and manages performance measurement and evaluation of subordinates.
· Bachelors Degree in a Business Cirriculum, Computer Science, or Operations Management from an accredited institution required.
· Minimum of 8 years of experience in managing people and delivery of complex implementation projects and on-going support.
· Must be legally authorized to work in the various EMEA countries.
· Understanding of competitive business strategies; the Operations business objectives; all business functions, structure, and operations.
· In depth knowledge of financial and materials management processes.
· Broad knowledge of information technology capabilities and characteristics, software languages and applications, data base technology, communications hardware/software, standards and procedures and data security techniques.
· Management/administrative knowledge including project management cost estimating, personnel coaching, discipline, and evaluations, budgeting and cost management, and solid inter-personal skills.
· Ability to work closely with external suppliers and consultants to implement a wide array of projects and services.
