Job Description

Eaton's Vehicle Group in Galesburg, MI is hiring a Materials Engineering Co-op for the Materials and Power Transfer Systems group.

This individual will be contributing to accelerated growth programs for new product development or innovation programs currently being pursued through the materials engineering Center of Excellence.

Essential Functions:
  • Apply a basic understanding of engineering fundamentals to projects and assignments
  • Follow lab processes and procedures while utilizing the tools and lab equipment to achieve the above goals in the materials engineering lab
  • Lab work may include photo documentation, hardness testing, sample preparation, micro hardness testing, microstructure documentation/analysis and basic chemical analysis.
  • Opportunities to perform failure analysis and contribute to larger projects such as competitive analyses and production and process changes.
 
This position will be part time during the school year with the option to work full time over the summer.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must obtain a High School Diploma or GED
  • Actively enrolled in associate program or bachelor’s degree program in engineering or engineering technology
  • Must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA (please do not round)
  • Legally Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship on a permanent basis.
  • This position does not offer relocation. Candidate must reside within 50 miles of Galesburg, MI.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled or completed metallurgical lab courses
  • A sophomore or junior status
