Eaton is looking to hire a Technology Manager to work at our Golden CO location:
 
The Technology Manager is a member of the Corporate Research & Technology (CRT) and reports directly to the Global Technology Manager. This position is responsible for leading a team of scientists and engineers, and providing direction in the field of Power Engineering (including smart grids and microgrids, distributed generation and energy storage, renewable energy and grid intelligence). This position directly interfaces with external customers, internal and external ecosystems to develop and implement technology and commercial strategies, and translate them into solutions across various industrial applications and markets.
 
 
This leader stimulates the search for creative applications in energy networks to fuel incremental revenues. This individual would be responsible for creating technology platforms and providing technical and managerial leadership to drive Eaton's growth by improving the future profitability and growth potential of the business divisions. Specifically, the incumbent will provide technology, engineering and commercial leadership to create a mindshare within the organization and influence key decisions. A good portion of this individual’s efforts would be to coach and mentor employees; select, develop and retain a global staff and create a vibrant team.
 
 
Essential functions include working with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.  This individual will:
 
  • Define, develop and execute R&D platforms & applications globally (U.S., Europe and China). Lead and direct technical and commercial activities for the Energy Networks PowerBlock with progress toward stated goals and objectives. 
  • Direct the development of advanced technology projects and relevant commercial applications based on early stage technologies. Collaborate with Program Managers in the development of detailed project plans. Lead globally diverse cross-functional project teams effectively and manage selected projects under the guidelines of our internal agile and stage-gated processes.
  • Develop global strategies for technology roadmaps that are linked to and supportive of the overall CRT and business strategies.  Create action plans to drive strategies to realization.
  • Manage customer relationships, maintaining customer satisfaction and manage the scope appropriately. Monitor and report overall performance of portfolio projects. Create a performance based culture encouraging the innovation team to develop measureable goals and objectives that support CR&T business strategies.
  • Stay abreast of product and technology patent and intellectual property management processes.
  • Interface, collaborate and coordinate with other functions (business engineering, marketing, etc.) across the globe, customers, suppliers, etc. to ensure smooth introduction of new technologies, products, and solutions.
  • Drive a high performance workforce – attract, coach, mentor and facilitate growth of strong leaders within the organization & share ownership in developing future talent pipeline.
  • Adopt, adapt and advance Eaton business tools within the organization.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Innovation Management.
  • At least 7 years of related engineering experience in power distribution systems, smart grids and microgrids, distributed generation and energy storage; and in applied research, new product development, program management and innovation processes.
  • 3 years of experience leading people (formal Manager of People role).
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or PhD from an accredited university
 
Position Criteria
  • Proven track record of building organizational capability and talent through effective recruiting, training, coaching, development and optimizing organizational structure. 
  • Proven track record of delivering technology concepts through to commercialization and creating IP portfolio. Entrepreneurial or start-up experience is a plus.
  • Direct international experience leading high performance technology based organizations is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated excellence in theoretical and applied power engineering including power distribution and power conversion, smart grids and microgrids, distributed generation and energy storage with significant experience with both physics-based and data-driven modeling and simulation techniques.
  • Candidate must have exceptionally strong business acumen with the ability to formulate compelling value propositions, and understand how to drive solutions to commercialization. Ideal candidate will have experience in developing solutions offerings across a number of industrial applications.
