Eaton’s Electrical Sector is hiring an Electrical Product Design Engineer. The Electrical Product Design Engineer will be based out of our Long Branch, NJ facility.
 
Position Overview:
The Electrical Product Design Engineer has design responsibility for current device product lines. This responsibility includes design and implementation of product variations, driving cost/quality improvement, ongoing support for ongoing operations and component/supplier qualification. This position works closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
 
The Electrical Product Design Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Manager. In performance of the role, this individual will regularly interface with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, other members within Engineering and Compliance, and outside vendors.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Design responsibility for current product lines, including cost/quality improvement, sustaining support for supplier component qualification and manufacturing support.
  • Resolve product and component sourcing issues and then initiate, implement and validate design changes
  • Prepare and present project plans and schedules
  • Maintain database of active projects and report progress weekly.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot analog and digital circuits including A/D, D/A, power supplies, embedded microcontrollers, xenon and LED devices, and piezo and loudspeaker audio devices

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Electrical Engineering (BSEE or BEEE) degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • 3+ years engineering experience including modification, improvement, validation and/or development of electronic hardware and/or devices
  • 2+ working with laboratory instruments (oscilloscope, multimeters, function generators, soldering iron)  
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
  • No relocation is provided. Only candidates that reside within 50 miles of Long Branch, NJ will be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 + years’ design experience with cost-sensitive electrical PCBA’s for mid to high volume production
  • 3 + years’ experience with microcontrollers and/or ASIC’s
  • 3 + years’ experience designing and releasing products in a life safety, mission critical, medical, and/or regulatory controlled environment is preferred
  • 3 + years’ experience with Optical design and measurement
  • 3 + years’ experience with Audio amplifiers design
  • 3 + years’ experience with Switch mode power supply design (AC/DC and DC/DC)
  • 3 + years’ design experience for EMI/EMC
