The scope of the role is to lead the R&D team of the Center of Excellence EL CPS (Emergency Lighting Central Power Systems) @ Soest. The incumbent is responsible for the development and maintenance of the CPS platform and building blocks as well as for the creation and execution of the technology roadmap for CPS.
The job duties include in detail:
  • Responsible for the development of CPS systems and products in accordance with customer and market requirements as well as within target cost to achieve budget and profit plan
  • Ensure current and future conformity of the CPS portfolio with relevant norms and legislation as well as required testing and certification
  • Ensure the translation of market and customer requirements into technical system and product specifications
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the CPS platform and building blocks within the framework of the Life Safety Platform
  • Responsible for the creation and execution of the technology roadmap for CPS
  • Leading and developing of the R&D team in Soest (incl. maintenance of capability matrix, identification and alleviation of capability gaps)
  • Establish and maintain an active and effective collaboration with other relevant development teams within the LSD (Life Safety Division) and within EATON
  • Ensure and foster the creation and publication of relevant IP
  • Ensure the technical maintenance of existing systems and products to keep a competitive position
  • Plan and execute VAVE projects to ensure cost competitiveness of the EL CPS platform
  • Ensure technical collaboration and alignment with other LSD platforms in particular with the EL SC platform as well as collaboration offshore R&D teams
  • Liaise and collaborate with other Eaton CoE, Engineering and Research Centers
  • Potential participation in national or international standardization bodies


  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline required; Electrical Engineering degree preferred
  • extensive experience in Engineering and/or Product Development Management
  • proven leadership responsibility of engineering teams
  • experienced in New Product Development (NPD) programs
  • proven track record of new technology development
  • in depth knowledge of applicable norms and standards for the electrical building industry is a strong advantage
  • proven Leadership skills - capability to lead change in an Integrated Product Development Teams (IPT) environment across multiple sites
  • proficient in Program and Project Management methodologies, processes and tools
  • excellent communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written with ability to make necessary status reports and technical presentations to Eaton management and customer
  • Experience in Risk Management
  • strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Experience in managing off-shore teams is a strong advantage

  • German, fluency in English is a must
