Eaton has an opening for a Front End Developer position within the Busway product line in our Greenwood, SC location. 
 
This resource will spend a large percentage of their time working on engineering automation (design automation) to streamline our front end systems and field interaction tools.  Focus being Bid Manager & front end software development engineer.  Bid Manager is an online and Windows application that is used for configuring and quoting assembled products and project business in Eaton.  This position is responsible for maintaining and evaluating engineering systems/results as needed and recommending/implementing corrective system actions to drive quality improvement. This includes defining requirements, acceptance testing, scheduling of training and rollout, documenting specific plant processes, and first level support.  This position is expected to have a detailed knowledge of systems and processes utilized in the front end team for relaying of information to field/manufacturing. Applications including, Bid Manager, POM, ENOVIA, JOE and network. This position is to be able to recommend improvements and enhancements to Front End systems and processes in accordance with the standard Eaton Electrical Sector platform for plants.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Deploying and supporting Front End Operating systems in Greenwood, SC.  This includes assisting in the installation of software when local deployment is required, scheduling of end user training, overseeing the rollout and communicating to plant staff the progress of systems projects.
  • Develop / Maintain roadmap of FED projects including NPD additions, system developments (BLT/Improved Engineering system) and maintenance and corrections to legacy offerings (Bidmanager, POM, AS400, Vista, etc.).
  • Maintain, improve and optimize pick rules for BidMan take-offs related to Busway offerings.  Own and maintain rules for Busway Layout Tool (BLT) as well as Eaton’s Engineering Tool.
  • Work closely with the Front End staff to understand and prioritize business goals and information needs; then develop system requirements and design specifications for the plant.
  • Participating in design reviews to assure that the plant requirements are being satisfied.
  • Advise leadership in the maintenance and improvement of processes to meet the needs of all stakeholders: Customers, Stockholders, Employees, Suppliers, and our Environment and Community. The processes should be in support and alignment with criteria defined by standards organizations including ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and Eaton Business Excellence.
  • Providing a focal point for the plant for addressing issues relating to front end operating systems and related practices. This includes gathering requests for system enhancements and communicating those to the appropriate development manager. 
  • Prepare and present activity and progress reports regarding all projects.  Including estimated hours of support, prioritization, and project schedules.  Tracking performance against those estimates for accuracy and execution measurements.
  • Evaluate facility hardware and packaged software needs and make recommendations for short and long range requirements.
  • Reviews and approves application systems implementations.
  • Manage user requests, issues and incidences through SharePoint and Change Management systems.
  • Remain up-to-date and current with the latest Lean concepts and practices, corporate security policies and Eaton’s implementations of same.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of 4 years of experience working with and/or maintaining engineering systems (BidManager, MiMan, Plant Order Manager, Pick Work Bench, etc.)
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates who currently reside within a 50 mile radius of Greenwood, SC will be considered.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
     
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Prefer 3+ years of experience working with and/or maintaining engineering systems (BidManager, Plant Order Manager, Pick Work Bench, etc.)
  • Previous experience in a custom order engineering environment, product electrical distribution equipment / related products, or manufacturing and assembly for engineered to order business.
  • Past project management and scheduling skillset.  (Example: Projects involving 3 or more cross functional members, senior design projects, or internships)
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems such as AutoCAD Inventor designing electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as BOM, Change Request, Change Notices, Drawing revision, routings, etc.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and customer service skills.
  • Strong mathematic skills, experience and knowledge with excel.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to cross functional team.
  • Independent drive and project management skills
