Senior Product Engineer
Provide Product Design technical support for both new programs launch and current production program teams to represent product engineering competency
Validate design on pre-production builds and test validation in order to ensure design is manufactural in the assigned manufacturing process.
Perform product drawing engineering analysis to ensure all product drawing requirements are in compliance to manufacturing process.
Participate in problem solving teams for pre-production and current production issues to reduce scrap and FPY metrics
Support in MRB meetings to ensure product issues are addressed to corrective actions
Participate in Change Management process as required (ECO approval, evaluation and implementation as required) to ensure design changes are implemented
Create Change Request for engineering changes to design groups to address manufacturing issues.
Participate as liaison and communication contact between Reynosa Manufacturing Plant and Product Design Centers (Marshall – Pune – Southfield, others) to facilitate product manufacturing issues resolution and communication to design center teams.
Coordinate product deviation approvals with design centers when required.
Evaluate Product-Process Validation Reports (PV) and DFMEA’s for all programs as plant representative to ensure no design risks are transferred to Manufacturing process when launched.
Represent the plant in Design Reviews, DFM/DFA events (Design for Manufacturability / Design for Assembly) for all programs and ensure provide plant input and resolve product manufacturing issues at design stages.
Ensure product engineering documentation for the plant is stored using appropriate documentation method as Enovia or ProLaunch in order to have it quick access and available when required.
Find opportunities for improvements on the Product or Process (Cost outs) to comply with the Cost out Activities and metrics on the Plant Profit Plan.
Provide coaching and mentoring to other six sigma candidates or green belt on different projects to resolve major issues and to transfer product design knowledge.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required.
Working knowledge of engineering concepts (static and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, etc).
Product development knowledge with automotive powertrain systems, fuel systems and plastic molding preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a related manufacturing/engineering environment.
Good problem solving skills (familiar with the 8-D system, G.M. five phase, etc.).
Green belt certification.
Supervision of personnel.
