Power Electronics  Engineer
 
Job description:
 
Eaton is looking for a power electronics engineer to develop innovative solutions for our power conversion and protection products at the Eaton European Innovation center in Prague (EEIC), Czech Republic.
 
The main purpose of the role is designing, developing and testing power electronics circuits, platforms, and systems for power conversion and protection applications.  This individual will be a member of the global Power Electronics (PE) Center of Excellence (CoE) and report to the power electronics manager of PE CoE
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Leads power electronics engineering activities and demonstrates start-finish ownership for the assigned projects and tasks.
  • Performs design, modeling, simulation and implementation of power electronics, including analog and digital electronics, for power conversion and protection
  • Develops the technical requirements for and identify components for the designs.
  • Builds and measures test circuits.  Analyzes data to improve/optimize the designs.
  • Collaborates with mechanical, layout, and firmware engineers to successfully develop and validate the designs
  • Evaluates the designs to meet requirements factoring in performance, cost, size, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Interfaces with Business Unit (BU) engineers and Corporate Research and Technology (CRT) scientists.
 

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • BS in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Solid  engineering experience in power electronics designs and product development
  • Significant modeling, simulation and analysis experience with tools like Matlab/Simulink, SPICE, and PSIM
  • Significant hands-on experience with power converter development and testing
  • Customer focused with good relationship building and communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate problem solving using logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Ability to learn new skills, knowledge, industry, or products
  • Fluent in oral and written English
 
 
Preferred Specialized Knowledge:
 
  • MS in electrical engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of related engineering experience
  • Good understanding of power semiconductors, magnetics design, EMC/EMI design practices, and PCBA design practices
  • Good understanding of electrical power distribution, protection and switching such as circuit breakers and
