Job Description

Primary function:

  • Leads IT project and operations teams in establishing training strategy and solutions for enterprise wide IT projects.  These could include large (1000+ end user or distribution partners) implementations from a wide variety  of Eaton businesses globally and/or simultaneously.  Partners with IT project and business teams to understand business needs and develop  the most effective training solution, often working through resources within the business teams.
  • Develop and execute sustainable long term training plan for the organization which aligns to global training strategy.
  • Identify, mentor, and utilize internal and external resources to ensure training is completed in timely, consistent, and high quality manner.
  • Analyze, design, develop, deliver, and evaluate training on applications to internal and external users.
  • Develop, design, and edit training materials using IT Learning Management templates and guidelines.

Specific functions:

  • Manage multiple (3-7) training projects simultaneously, indirectly supervises from 5-20 training resources per project.
  • Identify and lead global business resources (or vendors) to carry out training plans.  Mentor and coach internal and external resources on how to design, develop and deploy  effective and consistent training solutions. 
  • Write, design, proofread, and edit training materials for a variety of delivery methods (Instructor Led Training, Web Based Training, etc.). 
  • Initiate and lead training meetings and sessions with IT, including Functional Analysts, and departments outside of IT.
  • Manage vendor relationships for training and translation vendors.
  • Deliver and facilitate training courses in various locations globally
  • Continually, assess, evaluate and improve training solutions
  • Research, communicate, and employ industry standards and "best practices"


  • Bachelors degree in Education, IS, Communications, or related field required.  Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years combined experience in training, instructional design, and project management.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience with or understanding of either front end solutions or manufacturing ERP systems, manufacturing/operations processes, terminology, and workflow.
  • Must have experience with implementing CRM, ERP, or BI solutions (Oracle or SAP strongly preferred).
  • Must have experience working through team of business experts in implementing a lasting training solution.
  • Experience in custom design of training starting with a thorough needs assessment, selecting appropriate delivery method, developing courses, and delivering courses.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills including facilitation and negotiation, ability to lead and influence others, and the ability to effectively interface and work with a wide variety of people. 
  • Must demonstrate excellent decision-making, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written English communications skills to all levels of the organization.  This position will often work with both Senior Business Leadership and Senior IT Leadership on a regular basis.
