Eaton’s Marshall Vehicle Campus is looking for an Engineering Operations Manager. The Engineering Operations Manager will be based in Marshall, MI.
Positon Overview:
The Engineering Operations Manager (Marshall Campus Manager) is responsible for driving the overall safety, performance, and strategy of the Marshall campus labs, test track, and facility. This position provides leadership to an organization of approximately 80, which includes a staff of lab supervisors, technicians, and facilities team members. The primary function of this role is to establish common lab processes, best practices, and expertise to drive cultural excellence in each technical area.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage budget for R&D lab totaling >$10M and capital procurement projects for test cell operations. Creates a yearly budget forecast, monitors spending on a continuous basis and provides monthly adjustments to the forecast
  • Manages capital coordination activities for the campus.
  • Operate a high performance, service-oriented culture between the materials, assembly, testing, and facilities groups (including test track operations)
  • Integrate with program teams to ensure alignment.
  • Drives resource decisions to support all program needs.
  • Manages prototype delivery for programs to meet customer delivery targets using direct resources and leveraging plant capabilities when appropriate.
  • Drives cross-training activities between materials, assembly, testing, and facilities teams.
  • Promotes a metric-driven service organization with appropriate systems to accept, prioritize, and track work requests.
  • Leverages state of the art tools, methods and processes to create common test systems across the campus
  • Ensures testing and assembly labs are compliant with all Eaton and local standards (MESH, EHS, ISD, TS, OSHA, ISO etc.) with documentation and read inspections
  • Performs GEMBA Walks and 5S duties, including managing resolution to findings
  • Fosters an environment which promotes Eaton’s goals, values and philosophy, encourages continuous improvement and builds customer relationships, vigorously promotes excellence and pride of accomplishment among all the global product line employees and ensures that the attitudes are matched by engagement and accomplishment
  • Coordination with global lab leads on capital, utilization, process, best practices etc. to ensure optimization of company resources.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of manufacturing, engineering, or test environment experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing people. 
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Business.
  • Experience in testing and/or systems in a lab environment.
