Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Reporting to the Area Sales Manager for Southern Africa, this position requires a person with applicable experience in industrial sales and who is competent in Industrial/Hydraulic products and applications, specifically PMC (Power motion Control – valves/pumps/motors) and Fluid Conveyance, and has been exposed to the diverse selling requirements of significant customers and who has attained the functional experience to produce sales growth in the area of accountability in accordance with the Company’s goals and objectives. 
This position could be regarded as the experienced sales person of a product line and   capable of developing required skills to promote the full range of products.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Assume responsibility for assigned accounts/territories and promote and execute the sale of Company products and systems
  • Participate in determining and negotiating sales contract terms and conditions advising sales management of significant market, business, and competitor factors influencing sales commitments.
  • Develop contacts with appropriate customer personnel to determine requirements, present product and engineering information and to establish a strong business relationship conducive to Eaton Hydraulics becoming the preferred supplier.
  • Investigate and analyze customer problems and needs, recommend solutions applying company products and systems, ensuring that the Company’s profit margin goals are achieved.
  • Co-operate with Customer Service personnel and other internal functions to ensure that commitments to customers are met in a professional, timely and quality manner.
  • Develop concept of customer’s needs by studying their operations and applying suitable operation /sales tools available.
  • Grow company business and expand customer base by identifying potential customers/markets and developing appropriate strategies to take advantage of new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate and promote products to customers and potential customers, provide product and product application training to Eaton Hydraulics employees and customer personnel

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
 
  • Tertiary qualification such as engineering, technical or hydraulics qualifications or equivalent
 
  •  3-5 years technical sales activities in related industries.
 
  • Some hydraulic power and control experience necessary.
 
  •  Experience with multiple distribution channels require tact and judgment in dealing with distributors competing for sales within the same marketing area.
 
  •  Excellent communication skills are required and the ability to speak the predominant business language of English is an advantage.
 
  •  Extensive travel and time away from home and office is required (up to 50%).
 
  •  Contacts customers, distributors, and/or Original Equipment Manufacturers to resolve technical product application malfunctions to determine if problem was caused by our product, misapplication by the customer, or components supplied by others.
 
  •  Development of new business by application of standard product line or redesign units to meet customer technical requirements
